Oregon’s Public Employees Retirement Board can waive repayment when total pension overpayments are less than $200. The law raises that limit from less than $50. The board decides whether to grant a waiver; relief is not guaranteed.
After a member’s dispute deadline, participating public employers can make only specified retirement-data corrections. Corrections must match a verification sent to Oregon’s retirement system before retirement or answer a board request for specified determinations. These corrections can raise or lower a member’s pension. For retirement credit, a “major fraction of a month” requires employment for more than half its calendar days. The member must also receive salary from a participating public employer for hours worked that month.
