Oregon records exemption review deadline moves later

The Oregon Sunshine Committee’s overall review deadline moves from December 31, 2026, to no later than December 31, 2031. Reviews cover public-records exemptions in the Attorney General’s catalog, with listed exceptions remaining outside mandatory review. Exceptions include federally required exemptions, trade secrets, and most legal evidence privileges; attorney-client privilege remains subject to review. Specified security records, safety records and plans, and identifying information about certain workers also remain excluded.

New public access rules for legislative committees

Oregon’s judiciary-related and interim legislative committees can set rules for their public-records review discussions. These rules can support public participation through options such as live-streaming. The law also removes specified open-meeting requirements for the Legislative Counsel Committee and its public records subcommittee.
