Oregon employers must give workers written explanations of possible pay statement items when hired. These must cover pay periods, all pay rates, benefits, deductions and their purposes, minimum-wage allowances, and payroll codes. Employers can use an easily accessible location, but must review and update the information by January 1 each year. Oregon's labor bureau can fine employers up to $500 for violations. The bureau must provide a customizable guide to common payroll deductions in English and Spanish, with other translations on request when practical.
