Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

30-day alerts for basic services

Agencies that provide basic services must run public info programs about projects that can affect service. They must post details on their website: what the project is, the town, neighborhood and street, the impact area, and how long it will last. Notices start 30 days before the work. In exceptional cases, they must warn the public at least 48 hours before starting. The rule covers the Electric Power Authority, the Water Authority, and the Metropolitan Bus Authority. Agencies must also watch how the work affects people while it is underway.

Old user info law repealed

The law repeals Law 98-2002 on user education and information. The Government Electronic Law now holds the rules for how agencies inform the public about service-affecting projects. This consolidates the requirements into one law.
