Municipal police now cover transit areas

Municipal police can now work inside bus and train stations within their town. Their authority also reaches the nearby area within 500 meters of station property lines. That includes land, nearby structures, and the airspace above them. The law defines which transit services are covered: land transit run by the Transit Authority and train services it runs now or in the future.

Transit Authority funds town police at stations

The Transit Authority can sign agreements with towns to deploy municipal police at transit sites and nearby zones. Joining is optional for each town. When a town signs, the Authority must pay for staff, gear, training, and other operating costs. Each agreement must list officer counts, shifts tied to system hours, and duties. It must include a six‑month performance review and allow early exit for noncompliance or lack of resources. Agreements must also protect other police services from being underfunded.
