Municipal police contracts stay in force

The law keeps all terms in municipal police union contracts in place. Wages, benefits, and work rules continue until a new contract is signed or an interest arbitration award is issued. In the 30-day period set in state law, either side can propose changes. Changes proposed in that window also stay in place until a new deal or an arbitration award. The law takes effect upon passage.
