Firefighters contract terms stay in force

In Rhode Island, if you are a firefighter covered by a union contract, your terms do not lapse when the contract ends. All wages, benefits, hours, and other rules stay in effect during talks or arbitration. They continue until a new contract is signed or an interest arbitration award is issued. The law takes effect upon passage.
