Primary held Wednesday after Labor Day

The law sets Rhode Island’s party primary on the eighth Tuesday before the state election. When that Tuesday is the day after Labor Day, the primary happens on Wednesday. Candidate steps and deadlines for nomination, challenges, objections, hearings, withdrawals, vacancies, and certifications still count as if the primary were on Tuesday. This timing rule is now in effect.
