Fire departments get EV location updates

The law creates a statewide list of electric and hybrid vehicles with high‑voltage lithium‑ion batteries. The Office of the State Fire Marshal works with the DMV and gives it a contact list for every municipal and volunteer fire department and district. By January 1 and July 1 each year, the DMV sends each local fire provider the vehicle’s registration, make, model, year, and the address of the structure where the vehicle is located. This helps firefighters plan safer emergency responses. The law takes effect six months after passage.
