2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

New consent rights for AI therapy

The law sets statewide rules for using AI in therapy. The Department of Health and licensed providers must follow these standards. If your session is recorded or transcribed and the AI acts like a companion, your provider must tell you in writing. You or your guardian must give clear written consent; you can give it electronically and revoke it.

Only licensed therapists; AI can't treat you

People and companies can offer therapy only if a licensed professional provides it. This includes online and AI services; unlicensed or AI‑only therapy is not allowed. Providers must meet the law’s notice and consent rules before using any AI. AI cannot make therapy decisions, talk with clients, write treatment plans, or read emotions unless you gave written consent.
