Homeowners get notice of judgment liens

Beginning January 1, 2027, when a judgment lien is recorded on your real property, the creditor must mail you a certified notice within 10 business days to your last known address. The notice must list the creditor’s name and address, the judgment amount, and describe the property. It must also explain how to pay off or contest the lien. This notice is in addition to any court notice. If the creditor does not send it on time, the lien still stands, but enforcement deadlines can be paused until you get notice. Court clerks keep records of liens and the notices sent.
