Owners must list affordable units

If you own housing that counts as low- or moderate-income under state law, you must list it in the state database. Beginning January 1, 2027, new developments must be listed before or when you open for lease-up, accept applications, or list units for sale. For affordable homeownership units, you must list before the first sale, and before or at the time you post a resale. These listing rules help renters and buyers find eligible units on time.

Find affordable rentals and homes online

Rhode Island keeps a public online list of low- and moderate-income housing. It shows current units, who to contact, and an application form. It notes if a site serves seniors, people with disabilities, or other groups. When possible, you can set your housing preferences and get alerts when matching units open. The database is open to the public starting July 1, 2023.
