Commission to study condo law and affordability

The law creates a 16-member commission to review Rhode Island condominium law and recommend ways to improve transparency, governance, and affordability. Members include 3 House and 3 Senate appointees, state housing and municipal leaders or designees, building, lending, insurance, property-management and legal experts, and two condo owners. A member of the public may serve in place of a legislator. The commission meets at the call of the Speaker and Senate President, and the legislators on it choose co-chairs. Members are unpaid; state agencies must provide information the commission requests; the legislature provides office space. The commission must report by December 31, 2027, and it ends on March 15, 2028.
