Legal shield for family court mediators and staff

Rhode Island now protects family court mediators and mediation staff from personal money losses tied to their job. The State pays legal fees and costs for claims from acts done while performing program duties and within the scope of employment. The protection covers ordinary negligence. It does not apply if a court finds the acts were wanton, malicious, or grossly negligent.
