In-state tuition for Rhode Island students

Beginning July 1, 2026, eligible students pay in-state tuition at Rhode Island public colleges. You qualify if you attended a Rhode Island high school for at least one year, still live in Rhode Island, and graduated or earned a Rhode Island equivalency diploma. When you enroll, you must file an affidavit with the school saying you meet these rules. If you are not a U.S. citizen and lack lawful status, you must have filed or will file for lawful status; the affidavit cannot require you to reveal your immigration or citizenship status. This exemption does not cover nonimmigrant visa holders. Schools must keep any identifying information you provide for this exemption private under FERPA and state law. The Council on Postsecondary Education must set the rules to run this program.
