No new thermal waste plants at Quonset

The Quonset Development Corporation cannot allow new thermal waste conversion facilities or similar processes that turn waste into fuels, energy, or chemical products inside the Quonset Point/Davisville Industrial Park. This covers all property the corporation owns, manages, leases, or controls. A thermal waste facility uses high heat with little oxygen to break down solid waste or sewage sludge into fuel, energy, or industrial products. Any activity that was lawfully operating before this law took effect may continue. The law applies now and ends on February 1, 2027.
