Block-the-box cameras allowed until 2030

The law takes effect now. It lets cities and towns run automated “Don’t Block the Box” cameras until January 15, 2030; after that date, this permission ends. Each city or town can have up to three marked intersections, and the state transportation director must approve and regulate any installation. Systems must capture clear images of the vehicle and its plate. Governments may hire vendors to supply and maintain the cameras, but payments cannot be tied to ticket revenue.
