The law adds one Family Court judge in the Ninth, Eleventh, and Fourteenth Circuits. After the change, the Ninth has 7 judges, the Eleventh has 4, and the Fourteenth has 4. The Judicial Merit Selection Commission prepares nominees and the General Assembly elects the judges. Nominations cannot begin until funding for these new judges is provided in the General Appropriations Act. These rules take effect April 28, 2025.
