Hunters keep access to public land

Beginning January 1, 2027, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources must, to the greatest practical extent, avoid any net loss of acres open to hunting on wildlife management areas it owns. Each year by July 1, the department reports the hunting acreage and any offset efforts to the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee and the House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committee. This helps keep public hunting access on department-owned lands.
