Beginning July 1, 2025, the constituent school districts and their boards in Charleston County are abolished. From then on, the Charleston County School Board holds all powers those boards had under Act 340 of 1967, as amended. Parents, students, and staff now work with the county board for issues once handled by local boards. The law is approved April 28, 2025, and it overrides any conflicting state laws.
