Turkey hunting over bait on quail lands

The law bans hunting wild turkey by bait or over a baited area. An area stays "baited" for 10 days after all bait is gone. You may hunt turkey over bait on a property permitted by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to restore wild bobwhite quail. The property cannot be leased for turkey hunting and cannot host commercial turkey hunts. The permit must follow quail habitat best practices, rely on an approved plan updated at least every five years, and it can be revoked for violations. This takes effect May 8, 2025.
