Celina expands its board, changes voting
The law expands Celina’s governing board from a mayor and three aldermen to a mayor and five aldermen. It sets citywide elections for all six members on the first Tuesday in June 2025, with four-year terms. Motions, resolutions, and ordinances require a board majority—four votes—instead of at least two yes votes. The law takes effect for local approval purposes upon becoming law; these changes require approval by two-thirds of Celina’s legislative body. The presiding officer must announce approval or rejection and certify the result to Tennessee’s Secretary of State.
