Tennessee towns get contracting options with limits
Tennessee municipalities can contract with a certified public accountant to serve as their certified municipal finance officer. The contracted officer must spend at least 16 hours each month overseeing municipal finances. Fewer hours require written approval from the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury. That approval lasts one year, and the municipality must request a new approval each year. The law took effect upon becoming law.
