When your child changes schools, the old school or district must send records within 5 business days after it gets the request. This applies to moves within the same district and between districts. Records include grades, discipline, behavior, and special education files. If the new school got records but your child does not enroll, the new school must tell the old school within 5 business days of getting the records. All record sharing must follow FERPA privacy rules.
