Counties can require bids for insurance brokers

The law defines who the county legislative body is and what it means when a county self-insures employee health care. A county that self-insures and has adopted the County Purchasing Law of 1957 may require competitive bidding for insurance brokerage services. Counties choose whether to use this bidding rule. This aims to get better deals for county employee health plans. The law takes effect upon becoming law.
