Hearsay allowed at bail and release hearings

In Tennessee, magistrates deciding release or setting bail can consider hearsay. They can do so only if they find the hearsay is reliable. Defendants must get a fair chance to challenge and rebut that hearsay. This can affect whether you go home before trial and how much bail you must pay. The law takes effect immediately.
