Pharmacy benefit managers face stricter payment rules

Regulated pharmacy benefit managers must follow Tennessee's existing deadlines for paying pharmacists. Late-payment violations face the penalties under the state's prompt-payment law, rather than the pharmacy benefit manager rules. The law also applies existing state sanctions to covered pharmacy benefit manager violations, subject to limits for those violations. It took effect upon becoming law and applies to conduct on or after that date.
