Faster responses for small septic permits

Effective upon becoming law, Tennessee allows state-certified soil scientists to submit septic permit applications for systems under 750 gallons per day. Submissions must include a completed application, application fee, proposed design, soil map of appropriate detail signed by a certified soil scientist, and completed but unsigned construction permit. The state department or county under contract must respond within 10 business days after receiving these materials. It must approve, reject with a report of problems sent to the scientist and applicant, or request more information. Review covers state requirements and any stricter standards of the county under contract. The deadline guarantees a response, not approval.
