Families adopting siblings can file together

In Tennessee, families adopting more than one child at the same time can include all siblings in one adoption petition. The court clerk must charge only one filing fee for that joint petition. A court can require separate petitions only through a written order finding this serves the children’s best interests. The law does not set the fee amount. These rules took effect immediately when the act became law.
