Tennessee online notaries face new requirements
Beginning January 1, 2026, Tennessee online notary applicants must complete a course and pass an exam given by the course provider. The Secretary of State or an authorized representative or designee must approve the course. It must cover notary laws, online notarization technology procedures, and ethics. Applicants must certify that they reviewed and understand the state's online notary requirements and the Secretary of State's rules. They must also certify that they will follow those requirements and rules.
