The law defines a “downtown district.” It is the main business area of a home rule city in a county with 133,000 to 133,100 people, based on the 2020 or later census. The city’s legislative body must officially designate the area. In these districts, the city sets the hours when licensed establishments can sell or give away alcohol, even if other state law sets different hours. This applies only to licensees inside the district. The law takes effect immediately.
