More family access to death certificates

The law broadens who counts as next of kin. It includes the person with the highest legal priority to handle final arrangements, plus any surviving parent. It also states who can make a specific request about a death certificate: the decedent’s spouse, child, parent, or other next of kin; the other parent of the decedent’s child when that child is under 18; or an authorized representative for any of them. These rules apply now.
