Deadline for municipal payments to tourism groups
Tennessee municipalities must release revenue used to fund tourism groups within 120 days after approving their final budgets. The recipient must promote tourism on the municipality’s behalf. The law defines destination marketing organizations as year-round nonprofits or government units that attract tourists for one or more municipalities. They must use tourism promotion or development and have a dedicated tourism marketing budget backed by a consistent funding source. The law took effect upon becoming law.
