Clearer extra-fee notices for Tennessee hotel guests
Beginning July 1, 2026, hotel websites and third-party booking websites and apps must disclose fees for listed Tennessee hotel services. They must say when services cost extra beyond the room charge and identify which services require those fees. Covered services include parking, breakfast and other dining, spa treatments, early check-in, and late check-out. Sites advertising higher room prices because services are included must also identify services that may still cost extra. The rules cover stays shorter than 30 continuous days and exclude short-term rental units. Violations carry penalties and remedies under Tennessee's consumer protection law. Third-party sites are exempt when they pass along hotel-provided information that leaves out the required disclosures. The law applies to conduct on or after July 1, 2026.
