Stricter bus eligibility for sixth-grade middle schoolers

Beginning July 1, 2025, Utah sixth-graders attending middle school must live at least 2 miles away for state-supported bus service. The usual distance rule for kindergarten through sixth grade is 1.5 miles. No distance minimum applies to students in state-approved district programs whose severe disabilities make walking impossible or unsafe. Districts can still use their own general funds to transport students regardless of distance.
