Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Ban on paying for votes or registration

The law makes it a crime to ask for or take money or anything of value to sway a vote. It also bans payments tied to registering or not registering to vote. Breaking this rule is a Class 1 misdemeanor. The ban applies to every election and to party processes for picking nominees and delegates.

Normal voter help still allowed

The law keeps common voter help legal. It allows giving rides to vote or to register. It allows small noncash items of de minimis value, not cash or gift cards. Employers may give workers time off to vote or register. Groups may pay wages to people who run voter registration drives. These exceptions apply only to these listed cases.
