Morristown adopts new town charter
The law approves Morristown’s new town charter that voters passed on November 5, 2024. The town remains a municipal corporation called the Town of Morristown, and state municipal laws apply unless changed by the charter or a lawful town ordinance. The charter makes the Town Manager the chief executive under the Selectboard. The Manager can hire, discipline, and remove town employees, and may let department heads do this under the Manager’s oversight, following Selectboard-approved personnel rules. The law takes effect on passage.
