Any sheriff can serve eviction orders
Beginning May 5, 2025, any sheriff can serve a Vermont court order giving a landlord possession of rental property. Previously, only the sheriff in the property's county could serve it. The order is issued when the court enters judgment, unless the court delays it for good cause. A sheriff still must wait at least 14 days after serving the order before putting the landlord in possession.
