Protecting 2025 town election results
The law does not invalidate any officer elected at a 2025 annual municipal meeting. Those 2025 elections cannot be challenged for not following this law or the earlier rule. Votes taken before February 13, 2025 to use Australian ballot for some officers remain valid and cannot be challenged on those grounds. These protections take effect February 13, 2025.
Towns adopt and keep Australian ballot
Once a town or city votes to use Australian ballot for any listed offices, it keeps using it for those offices until voters end it. When asking voters, the ballot must use one of two forms: name the specific office(s), or ask to elect all officers by Australian ballot. These rules take effect February 13, 2025.
