More money to maintain schools
The law provides $237,865,123 for major maintenance payments to school districts. $1,122,400 covers the period from the act’s effective date through June 30, 2028. $236,742,723 covers July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028. It also adds $31,661,322 for component‑level fixes, with set caps for each listed project. The money cannot be used for other purposes, and any unspent funds revert on June 30, 2028.
Funding to design and build schools
The state funds school construction and design across Wyoming. It provides $77,359,731 to build listed projects and $15,739,855 to design them. It sets $2,620,670 for demolitions and $7,642,895 for unexpected costs. Campbell County #1 also gets $2,650,000 more for a transportation facility, with no change to scope or design. Project funds start July 1, 2026 and stay available until each job is done; leftover money then returns to the fund. The state uses a nonbinding project schedule, files yearly progress reports, and can seek extra funds in 2027–2028 for emergencies or needed changes. If another 2026 bill conflicts, this act controls.
Help for charter and modular leases
The law covers lease costs for charter and modular school space. It provides $6,332,928 for charter school leases for school years 2026–27 and 2027–28. It adds $1,792,976 for future charter leasing needs that does not lapse, with annual spending reports each September 1 until used. It also sets $52,125 for named modular leases, for example $17,375 each for three Laramie #1 leases. Lease and modular funds are available July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028; any unspent money then reverts.
Grants for school safety upgrades
The state creates $10,000,000 in grants for school safety upgrades starting July 1, 2026. The commission ranks fixes using best practices, and districts apply to the state construction department. Each fix must be in the district facility plan, be cost‑effective, and stay within a set budget. Funds stay available until each remedy is complete; leftover money for a finished remedy returns to the fund. By September 1 each year, the commission and department report spending and any added funding requests.
