More staff for Wyoming's inmate forestry crews

The law authorizes two full-time positions in Wyoming's State Forestry Division for the forestry conservation inmate crew program. One starts April 1, 2026; the other starts April 1, 2027. The state forester sets their duties with the Department of Corrections, consistent with W.S. 7-16-202. The Office of State Lands and Investments receives $499,709 from the general fund for these positions and related costs. Covered costs include equipment, supplies, software, hardware, and telecommunications services. The money is available April 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, and cannot be transferred or used for other purposes. Any unspent money not committed to expenses reverts as provided by law on June 30, 2028. For the next two-year standard budget, $129,255 is excluded. The remaining $370,454 must be included after the State Budget Department adjusts it to cover 24 months. The Legislature also states its intent to include both positions in that next standard budget.
