The law took effect immediately upon enactment and requires commercial drivers in Wyoming to show English proficiency under federal standard 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2). Drivers who violate this rule face a $1,000 fine and cannot drive commercial vehicles in Wyoming until they show proficiency. Driving while barred is a misdemeanor. Upon conviction, drivers face an additional $1,000 fine, up to 90 days in jail, or both.
