Beginning July 1, 2026, eligible Wyoming National Guard members can receive reenlistment or service-extension bonuses of up to $5,000. Members must commit to at least three more years and meet Guard eligibility criteria and additional Wyoming Military Department requirements. The department decides whether to pay bonuses, and enough funds must be available; no member is guaranteed a payment. The law provides $1 million from the state general fund, solely for this program, through June 30, 2028. Money not spent or committed returns to the state on that date. The legislature intends this funding to stay out of the next two-year standard budget. The department must issue program rules; that requirement takes effect when the act becomes law. Starting November 1, 2026, it must report annually on November 1 to the Joint Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Interim Committee. Reports must include reenlistment and extension counts, average years committed, bonus amounts paid, total Guard membership, yearly percentage changes, and recommended legislation.
