Beginning July 1, 2026, the law expands Wyoming National Guard referral bonuses to Guard members, Guard veterans, current Wyoming Military Department employees, and recruits starting enlistment. The bonus cap rises from $500 to $1,000; the adjutant general sets the amount each calendar year. The referred person must finish joining the Guard, and a recruit making a referral must also finish joining before payment. Payments depend on available funds. Referrers must submit a Guard form with the prospective recruit’s name, contact details, and other required information; the department must keep these forms. The law extends the program’s end date from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2028. It provides $250,000 from the general fund for bonuses from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. This money cannot be transferred or spent for another purpose, and unused, uncommitted money returns on June 30, 2028. The legislature intends to keep this funding out of the department’s standard budget for the next two-year budget period.
