Every Wyoming school district board must adopt rules for students’ possession and use of cell phones and smart devices in schools. The deadline is July 1, 2026, and each district sets the specific rules. Districts must send copies to the state superintendent as soon as practicable after adoption and whenever rules are substantially revised. Wearables that only tell time, monitor health information, or track location do not count as smart devices under this law. The law took effect immediately upon becoming law.
