Higher Wyoming Medicaid payments for ground ambulances
From July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, Wyoming Medicaid pays ground ambulance providers more for covered emergency services. Payments equal 100% of the current Medicare rate, but cannot exceed the provider’s or department’s usual billed charges. The Department of Health must create higher rural and super-rural payment schedules. The law provides $1.3 million from the General Fund and $1.3 million in federal funds for these increases only. This money cannot be transferred or spent for another purpose; money not spent or committed reverts on June 30, 2028. The Legislature intends to include this funding in the department’s standard budget for the next two-year budget period. By October 31, 2027, the department must report added costs and recommend possible rate changes to two legislative committees. Those are the Joint Appropriations Committee and the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committee.
