More need-based Hathaway aid
Beginning July 1, 2026, need-based Hathaway help increases. To qualify, you must receive a Hathaway scholarship (merit or provisional), qualify for federal financial aid, and have more than $2,000 in unmet need each year. If you are eligible under this section but do not qualify under the law’s main need‑based formula, your award equals 25% of your unmet need above $2,000, up to $2,120 a year. Schools pay half each semester, with at least $150 per semester.
Higher Hathaway awards for students
Beginning July 1, 2026, Hathaway merit awards are higher. Opportunity: $1,180 per semester with a 2.50 GPA and a 2015–2016 national exam percentile of 43 or higher. Performance: $1,770 with a 3.0 GPA and a 56+ percentile. Honor: $2,360 with a 3.5 GPA and a 79+ percentile. Provisional at Wyoming community colleges: $1,180 with a 2.50 GPA and either a 30+ percentile or a qualifying career‑technical test score. All amounts require at least 12 semester hours at an eligible institution.
