Higher Hathaway scholarships for college students
Beginning July 1, 2026, Hathaway scholarship awards increase for eligible students taking at least 12 semester hours. Opportunity awards rise from $840 to $1,180 per semester; performance awards rise from $1,260 to $1,770. Honor awards rise from $1,680 to $2,360 per semester. Grade and test requirements stay unchanged: opportunity requires a 2.50 high school GPA and a 43rd-percentile entrance-exam score. Performance requires a 3.0 GPA and a 56th-percentile score; honor requires a 3.5 GPA and a 79th-percentile score. Provisional opportunity awards at Wyoming community colleges also rise from $840 to $1,180 per semester. That track requires a 2.50 GPA and either a 30th-percentile entrance-exam score or a qualifying career-technical aptitude test score. These entrance-exam thresholds use the 2015–2016 national percentile rankings, and other Hathaway eligibility requirements still apply.
More Hathaway aid for students with need
Beginning July 1, 2026, need-based Hathaway awards increase for students qualifying for federal financial aid and a regular or provisional Hathaway scholarship. For annual unmet financial need above $2,000, the specified award remains 25% of the amount above $2,000. Its annual cap rises from $1,575 to $2,120. This formula and higher cap do not apply to students qualifying under the separate category in W.S. 21-16-1306(a)(i)(B)(I). The minimum need-based award rises from $105 to $150 for each qualifying semester. Half of the annual award is paid each semester the student qualifies.
