Tougher penalties for giving fentanyl to minors

Beginning July 1, 2026, anyone 18 or older who gives or sells fentanyl to someone under 18 commits a felony. The court can impose the fine allowed under W.S. 35-7-1031(a)(ii) and a prison term up to twice the length allowed there, or both. The law also defines fentanyl broadly, including its isomers, esters, ethers, and their salts. Police, prosecutors, and courts enforce these rules.
