Did you know2023
Robert Bosch GmbH is the sole owner of three businesses that span completely different supply chains: BSH Hausgerate (world 3rd largest home appliances -- washing machines, dishwashers for consumers), Bosch Rexroth (hydraulic components for agricultural and construction equipment), and Bosch Mobility (ECUs for automotive and agricultural equipment OEMs). The same Stuttgart charitable foundation controls the company that makes the farm equipment hydraulics inside John Deere combines, the ECUs inside CLAAS harvests, AND the dishwasher inside German kitchens. Consumer goods, agricultural equipment, and automotive/industrial electronics share Robert Bosch GmbH as a common ultimate parent. A Bosch corporate crisis -- governance dispute at the Stiftung, major liability event, or German regulatory action -- would simultaneously affect appliance consumer markets, agricultural equipment Tier-1 supply chains, and automotive ECU supply chains globally.
Robert Bosch GmbH ↗Origin2023
BSH Hausgerate (Bosch-Siemens Hausgeraete) was founded in 1967 as a joint venture between Robert Bosch GmbH and Siemens AG to combine their respective home appliance businesses. For 50 years, BSH operated as a 50-50 joint venture between two of Germany's most iconic industrial companies. In 2015, Robert Bosch GmbH acquired Siemens' 50% stake for approximately €3 billion, making BSH 100% Bosch-owned. The acquisition meant that Robert Bosch GmbH -- the Stuttgart company founded by Robert Bosch in 1886 to make automotive ignition systems -- now wholly owns the company that makes the Siemens and Bosch brand dishwashers and washing machines in most European kitchens. Bosch, through BSH, also competes with its own industrial customers: companies that buy Bosch factory automation equipment are also buying Bosch-branded home appliances. The same Robert Bosch Stiftung charitable foundation that controls Bosch GmbH owns both the agricultural hydraulics company (Bosch Rexroth), the vehicle ECU company (Bosch Mobility), and the dishwasher company (BSH).
