Title 15 › Chapter 19— MISCELLANEOUS › § 1005
Government vehicles and people can be charged a toll to cross the San Francisco‑Oakland Bay Bridge, but those tolls cannot be higher than what similar users pay. Military, Coast Guard, and Navy personnel; civilian employees of the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard; and staff of the National Ocean Survey who are on official duty—and the vehicles they use—may cross without paying. Also, those people, their dependents, and their vehicles are allowed to cross without paying when they live or work on Yerba Buena Island or Treasure Island, or are on a vessel berthed there, when going to or from those islands. Both free-cross rules are subject to section 1006.
